Thousands of cadres, members and sympathisers of the People’s Democratic Party (PRD) filled the Hamrawati building on Monday (27/12) in Makassar, South Sulawesi to attend a mass meeting (vergadering).
The meeting was also attended by the PRD’s general chairperson, Agus Jabo Priyono, provincial officials of the party from municipal and village level and local academics, politicians, and cultural
figures. Most of the participants were urban poor, workers, students, and youth.
According to Agus Jabo, the PRD’s big task today is building the party by expanding its structure down to village level and carrying open recruitment of the masses. He invited volunteers,
members and sympathisers to work in the midst of people, to find out their problems, and to fight together with them.
An academic cum cultural expert from Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Ishak Ngeljaratan shared the same view as Jabo’s.
“The PRD as a party led by the youth should continue to work consistently in the midst of mass of
Meanwhile, the PRD’s chairman of South Sulawesi, Babra Kamal explained about the party’s
prioritiy in the future.
“We will soon complete the party structure in various cities and districts in South Sulawesi. We will
also recruit members as many as we can,” he said.
Today, the PRD has built and expanded its structure in several cities in South Sulawesi, among others, Makassar, Bulukumba, and Palopo.
In addition to the structure expansion, the party will also provide a political education for cadres and masses at every level.
